Custom Fabrication of a Tapered Roller for Processing Paper
Specialists in manufacturing for the paper, steel, and mining industries, at P&G Precision we are proud to carry on our tradition of high quality metal fabrication. We were contacted by a client in the paper processing industry to create a custom tapered roller. Our machinists used Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) tubing and 1018 cold rolled steel to create this roller, employing our state-of-the-art machinery. This included our vertical machining center, CNC turning center, boring mill, and our engine & turret lathes. We drilled and turned the steel to fabricate this tapered roller, following up with assembly and deburring. When completed, the roller measured 60” in length and had a diameter of Ø 3.37". It was made with a high degree of accuracy, with tightest tolerances of Ø 2.8346" / Ø 2.8334". The roller was visually and dimensionally inspected carefully to ensure it was completed to the highest quality. The finished product was delivered to our client in Middletown, Ohio within a turnaround time of just 6 to 8 weeks.
